To me it would seem more logical for new people to go for RS3 rather than the older version. Also I think looking just in Lumbridge is not enough to know. Most people there could just be making an extra account. Tongue You'd have to look for the people cluelessly fighting goblins a bit further. Biggrin

I understand where you are coming from, Jon. I don't know if all of them are new players or just alts, but since F2p came out on 07, there has been a significant increase in the amount of players. Sure, most of them will be coming back from playing the game years ago, but still.

You'd be surprised about people joining 07 over Rs3. I guess it is dependent on what sort of community etc you are after. From what I have found, players on 07 are much more likely to participate and have fun but Rs3 is #GrindScape.

The 07 developers come across as trustworthy and constantly reiterate that Micro transactions etc will never make it into 07. Whereas, I find that the Rs3 developers seem a bit cocky and continue to juice Runescape for what it is worth with Micro-transactions.

Once again, it is down to your own personal opinion but yeah.

Jack, you make some good points there. I can see how people could find 07 more appealing. Definitely if they know people who already play the game.

I also believe many people wouldn't look into a new game that in-dept though and would just pick the newest version. Tongue

The fact that 07 is now free-to-play would rather make me think it'd attract veteran players too. But it may indeed give new players some more incentive to try it.

To me it now seems that new players would be spread evenly towards both the old and the new version. Do you agree on that point?

Agreed or not, we still have no idea whether there are actually totally new players though! Biggrin Perhaps we should go to Lumbridge, as you have done, and interview a couple of noobish-looking players. Tongue

RE: True noobs - Jack - 2015-05-22

I kind of agree that they are spread evenly. But as I've already said, it really does depend what version of the game you are currently playing and are most passionate for I guess. I don't want to argue so I'm not going to say no^^. You should go and speak to some players for sure.

RE: True noobs - Myster Q - 2015-05-22

I guess I should. Tongue Although I wasn't very serious about it when I suggested it, I'm way too lazy for that. Biggrin

With a title like this, it kind of amazes me it took this long before someone made a comment like yours. XD

Rip

I do have to ask why would you be hanging out in Lumbridge on RS3 to look for new players? New players start out in burth/tav area now on RS3 after completing ashdale tutorial.

True, my bad.
