RE: High Profile Accounts Banned. - Dave - 2012-08-20 Ahh, I thought you were referring to the gamblers. Anyway, I doubt very much that anyone who gets caught buying unsanctioned gold gets away with it, as it's just as much a violation of the rules as selling gold. The real issue is whether anyone ever gets caught, but finding a seller should lead to numerous buyers so this news is a step in the right direction on both fronts. They don't really explain here what happens to the buyers. Personally, if they think that a lighter punishment will get the job done for a first time offender, then that doens't bother me. The kingpins have been permanently banned, but I don't think they'll stop unless Jagex takes it a step further by bringing legal action against these people. Because free trade is in anyone can go to duel arena put up 1m and the seller put up 500m and the person could "win" the duel and its untraceable to jagex unless jagex where to minimize dueling difference like make ppl put up 100m to win 100m and such then the buyers would be more nervous to do that type of a transfer and would resort to free transfer which would be easyer traceable. RE: High Profile Accounts Banned. - Dave - 2012-08-20 Those kind of transactions are not untraceable, and if the seller is transferring money at the duel arena then there's a pattern that develops where the seller risks way more than his opponent and never wins. Instead of blocking those kinds of uneven duels, it makes more sense to watch for that kind of unusual behavior and mark the account as one that needs to be looked at more closely. The same goes with any other method of transferring wealth, and there's absolutely no reason why Jagex shouldn't already have a system in place for logging dramatic changes in wealth from trades, duels, drops, etc. RE: High Profile Accounts Banned. - 70s_Warlordx - 2012-08-20 (2012-08-20 05:46:45)Dave Wrote: Those kind of transactions are not untraceable, and if the seller is transferring money at the duel arena then there's a pattern that develops where the seller risks way more than his opponent and never wins. Nice to see them trying, but it will have to be on a much bigger scale if they want to see any sign of improvement. RE: High Profile Accounts Banned. - old_jon - 2012-08-20 It looks good on paper, but I don't know... how much can one trust a monkey...? RE: High Profile Accounts Banned. - Joeym4692 - 2012-08-20 Well glad to see there finally doing something! Hopefully they can step it up and clean up the game a bit |
