I don't really have much of an opinion on this, but here are my thoughts.
I kind of expected this to happen, in all honesty. As Meg said, we talked about it and we were both pretty uncomfortable with people doing it, and we knew it was a risk that people were taking upon themselves. We figured people would be getting reset for doing it. As for bans, no, I think that's a little extreme. Maybe a temporary ban as a slap on the wrist, but nothing permanent. I don't think they'd do a permanent ban, but only time will tell.
As Evaluate said, the jump wasn't intended to rival the best agility course in the game. Sure, it wasn't a gargantuan amount of experience in difference, but it was still out of place, if that makes sense.
"If it's too good to be true, then it probably is."
Yes, past experiences with bugs and their punishments (or lack thereof) could be argued against this case, but I honestly didn't expect Jagex to just watch this slip by. They must have their reasons for what they do and I don't really feel like getting into a huge debate on it, because there are two sides to every story and nobody is going to be 100% correct since none of us work for Jagex.
I know a few clan members did partake in this activity, and for their sake I hope all ends up well. But, in future, if you see something out of place in the game, it's probably best to avoid it.
