Troll Invasion

Trolls have begun their invasion of Burthorpe in earnest, leaping from the Death Plateau into the Imperial Guard’s ranks. The Guard’s claws are not quite enough to hold them back, so they need your help. Whether you’re a skiller or a fighter, the Guard welcome you.

You can choose between fighting them head on, or repairing the single defence that stands between the trolls and a fleshy buffet. Opt for close combat and you’ll be thrown into 20 increasingly difficult waves of trolls; starting with common mountain trolls, you’ll quickly be dodging the strikes of dynamite trolls, troll summoners and Cliff - he’s big, he’s ugly, and he once ate a coastline. If that sounds too tame, there’s a 7-wave version to test your mettle. Only 7 waves, you say? Try holding back Cliff with dynamite, runts, spells, poison and rocks whizzing past your head!

Crafters, constructers and firemakers can also take on the trolls. Tend the ballistas, top up the oil drums and repair broken walls to frustrate your opponents. Just make sure the trolls don’t get their stone mitts on your defences, or they’ll start pummelling it into nothingness. Hardcore defenders will even find morale boosting effects that can be used to whip up the Imperial Guard into a troll-busting force.

You’ll be able to fight against the troll invasion whenever the fancy takes you, but you will only receive an XP reward for doing so once a month. Try to make the most of that attempt, as the XP you receive is based on how many waves you manage to survive or how many trolls you kill defending the keep! You’ll then be able to put the XP into a skill of your choice, in a similar manner to Penguin Hide ’n’ Seek.

Agreed with Crow, we'll see about making it into an event for the clan, assuming everyone doesn't rush to do it right away. Might be better to hold off 'til next month, though. Also kind of depends on if this event is instanced, and it kind of sounds like it is, so having it as a clan event may not work too well.

Loving this update already and I haven't been into the game to play it yet. Reasons why this update rocks:

1. The boss troll's name is Cliff, which is hilarious considering Crow almost made Clifford a troll in the "What RuneScape NPC are you?" thread. Cliff, you troll!

2. Being able to choose the skill to put your exp in is always nice. I really enjoy hunting penguins, so them adding another, similar event (even if it's only monthly) will help out quite a bit when it comes to leveling those not-so-fun skills. ^_^

Huzzah to a great update!

Completed the easy version of it which has 20 levels. Was extremely easy as you'd guess it would be, especially since there's a potion in the corner that for each wave you can use 5 times and it heals all your health, prayer and restores all stats back to full, but it will disappear if you let the dynamite guy run into it (Just range him once and he explodes).

The only real damage you attain is due to you being silly and not moving for either the mage's roots spell or the ranger who throws boulders.

All in all pretty fun and neat update in my opinion, I haven't had the chance to try the harder version of it yet, but seen a youtube video of 'Cliff' on the final wave on it and it seems pretty easy as well.

Edit: Oh and just to add to this, making it an event even this month wouldn't be so bad because people can redo Troll Invasion multiple times a month, just not able to gain experience the second time around per month. Maybe during this first month, people who have already completed it could redo it in the harder version if they haven't done so already, and those that haven't tried it out yet could go get their experience for this first month.

Nice, not bad! I wonder what the difference would have been had you done a more difficult mode. I'm sure the fansites will have the information posted pretty soon.

Nah they won't lol, you can't do the harder mode until after you have done the easy mode first I believe. So no one will be attaining the harder difficulties experience this month.

Even at once a month, 57k at 85 is really good, gives me yet another way to raise my RC. Hopefully the harder version is super difficult, but also gives more exp than the easy one. Anxious to see.
