It's a nice idea to include these pop-ups. Thing is, it's a useless one, the axe is kinda useless, when, maybe for lower levels it helps...

It's shocking to see that they're advertising it more and everything but it isn't that bad really. As long as it isn't even other level they're advertising it, I think it's pretty good. As said, it isn't that much for what you get so advertising it in F2P will probably increase the sales of members.

I think its really sad honestly.
I did not read all your posts, but as shay mentioned, other mmo's have this thing pop up all the time. Before this need for membership, jagex's free game only had to go through ads, which was not that bad. Now we got this crap, which is unsettling.
Honestly, i started playing rs because I wanted to escape this junk, and now they put it back in.
