Ritual of the Mahjarrat

“They signal their arrival with a devastating shriek, and leave nothing but ash, flame and destruction in their wake. All tremble in fear as they approach, and the ground rumbles in sympathy.”

There is news of a devastating attack on Mos Le’Harmless, and Sir Tiffy is quick to call you for help. Rumours seem to hint towards an ancient evil, once thought to be myth, and the implications of its appearance could spell disaster for this plane. It is unclear what they want, and there is nothing to say why they have risen now.

Yet, with one threat comes another: the planets have aligned, signalling the Ritual of the Mahjarrat. These mighty and ambitious beings are looking to draw the life from one of their order, sacrificing them to regain lost energies and add flesh to bones. The ritual will also offer near-limitless power to a single Mahjarrat who has already been gathering superhuman strength and influence. With an arsenal of weapons taken from the gods, could the ritual be your last opportunity to stop him before he achieves complete domination?

With two monumental threats such as these, humanity risks being utterly crushed. Fighting now would require armies of bold and fearless warriors, yet only a precious few are able to stand up and face them. The question is: are you ready to join the defence of RuneScape?

Survive to the end of Ritual of the Mahjarrat and you can be sure of a wealth of rewards. Aside from the customary (but large) stack of XP, you will gain access to a new spell, a new reward dungeon, ranging and mage gear, the opportunity to gain three new boots and other rewards that we would rather keep secret!

The following small fixes and adjustments have now been made to the game. If you spot any further bugs in-game, please use the Bug Report feature ('Submit a Bug Report' under the 'Help' drop-down menu of the website).

Graphical


Fibre animations on Citadel looms no longer disappear or become transparent.
Several duplicate dungeon icons have been removed from the world map.
Chuck's Island, from the Hunt for Red Raktuber quest, no longer has white shores in certain graphical modes.
Shilop now plays an animation when he jumps up and down, shaking fists at the player, instead of just stating this in the chat window.
Opening the lighthouse door no longer causes the wall to move.
Stomp's healsplat is now the correct colour, instead of the green hitsplat reserved for poison.
The island east of Gu'Tanoth no longer has flickering issues.



Quests & Tasks


Movario's notes from While Guthix Sleeps now appears in Player Owned House bookshelves.
It is now possible to gain more reputation after Branches of Darkmeyer by performing blood deliveries.
Players can now continue after clicking out of the conversation with Sarius during The Darkness of Hallowvale.
A grammatical error in King of the Dwarves quest journal has been fixed.
The Branches of Darkmeyer XP tome no longer states that the player needs a genie lamp when used.



Minigames & Distractions


When in range of an elite clue scroll, the scroll will now give feedback stating if you are on the wrong level.
Dying in Three’s Company during the tile puzzle no longer causes a ‘Connection lost’ message.
Players are no longer told that their rank is only visible in the Mobilising Armies area.



Miscellaneous


The demon horn, twisted bird skull and split dragontooth necklaces have updated information for the Prayer rework in the Dungeoneering reward shop.
The Rogue Familiars challenge room obelisk now blocks ranged attacks.
Ilfeen's chat now states why she won't recharge a player's crystal shield / bow.
It is now possible to select autocast on the Magic interface when the player's Magic stat has been drained. Spell highlighting now also works correctly with a drained Magic stat.
Bonus XP is now displayed correctly if using Refer-a-Friend and the bonus XP is less than 1xp.
Joining the ‘last entered’ guest clan channel now enters immediately instead of just putting the name into the text input field.
A typo when destroying gem bags has been fixed.

Started it. Will finish after work. Saw a video of the whole boss fight. Doesnt look too tough for a maxed person.
Hopefully the new ranger boots dont make my current ones drop inprice, but oh well if they do.

Quest was good but i think Jagex is pulling a fast one on us and will surprise us with a continued portion of the quest next week. Also ranger boots are going to crash hard. New boots are better range attack and more farmable due to not being gated by treasure trail.

Oh yeah another boss I won't be able to finish..

Just kidding. XD Well kinda..really excited for this quest!
Just annoyed how high combat you will have to get eventually as they have to keep releasing better bosses. *sigh*

There has been some chat about Catspeak Amulet (e) and I was just wondering if I had to dismantle my "Camulet" thingy or if I could find Bob and deal with him without needing a Catspeak Amulet (e).

Has anyone completed the quest without the Catspeak Amulet (e)?

Sounds intense

With the catspeak amulet (e), I just dismantled the camulet and brought 5 death runs as well as the catspeak ammy to a chick in Burthorpe who enchants it. It doesn't seem to be necessary, but chasing down the npc with the biggest walking radius and who's pretty small can be pretty tricky, so I wouldn't recommend running around randomly otherwise.

The quest was awesome, would of liked more puzzles, I seem to smash through most of them and get stuck on the ones I really shouldn't of lol. (Like already having a note in my inventory and running around looking for it >.<).

No complaints from me, and the glacors are heaps fun to kill ^^

The Catspeak amulet (e) is helpful for finding Bob the Cat. I'm sure the quest can be completed without one, though you would just be making it harder on yourself than it needs to be.

The final battle is actually four separate fights. You can leave in between the battles to bank and start where you left off when you return, and individually the battles are pretty easy.

The new barrows brother is neat. His tomb is in a new room which is an extension of Verac's crypt. He attacks with melee and he switches protection prayers when you damage him, similar to TDs. Like the other brothers he's not particularly dangerous and can be killed without much trouble.

The new bolts/arrows look pretty nice. I made some dragon bane bolts and tested them on black dragons. It seemed like I was hitting 400+ more often than not, and I even saw a few in the low 500s. And that's at 90 range with extremes & no prayers. I haven't tried the arrows yet, but the dark bow spec with bane arrows could turn out to be pretty good and a heck of a lot more affordable than other special attacks.

I own a Quest Cape and I can safely say that apart from WGS this is the best Quest I have ever taken part in.

The rewards were decent from this quest! The new boots are also ftw ^^
