"Runescape is not a dating site" Angry2

I was waiting for someone to post it Biggrin

I'm not hatred against it, but as I said before, if you have met your "true soulmate" in here, you have played to much. Thats what I think. As RS is a site to play together you can meet someone who is a good friend and can could on, but it still stays ingame thing. The physical part has to match as well.

(Actually, I didn't met someone, but I also have played too much Wink

And what I did not write before: I think people, real addicts, could love eachother for what they are ingame and because they can do that together and they found someone who shares the same addiction. By that I mean that I doubt the love continues without the game in their lives.

Just wanted to answer these with this:
(2011-06-08 19:26:53)Agent Shay Wrote:  Edit: Just wanted to add in that I know everyone isn't going to agree with me. Everyone has their own views on things and what they believe to be right or wrong. These are my views and I don't really expect everyone to 'go with them' or anything like that. I don't really like debate topics since I hate conflict and the last thing I want to do is hurt someone's feelings, but I did want to share my thoughts. <3 you all!
I am not saying that Runescape Dating is horrible, I am just saying my opinion. I can see your point of veiw and understand, I don't mean any offence by what I say, like I said, I am just sharing my opinion because that is what topics are for.

I never really put much thought into it until my friend told me he had a rs girlfriend. I wasn't sure how to react to be honest. Like many people, I don't really see the point in dating online. But now I understand that their really just messing about - their good friends and it's just a little joke to them. Nothing serious. And if they find it fun, then I don't see any reason to stop them.
I've seen people around runescape wearing the same outfits and following each other (even with similar names.. if you DG on the 3bo world you'll probably have seen "Mr Rune" and "Mrs Rune.") I've never really stopped to judge them too much though, I just assume their good friends and carry on with my task.

As Micah said, I am simply just stating my opinion as well. I'm not disputing that it's possible to find love on Runescape; it certainly is, I just think it's a little silly to find someone you "click" with on Runescape and call it love.

It doesn't "hurt my life," it's just how I find it.

That's all good and all, but stop smothering me! waking to 15 missed calls and four distraught messages only scares me away!

Sorry, petal. I'll tone it down a tad from now on. Wub

And another thing!

I know two Runescape players, one from the USA, the other from Brazil, who met through Runescape and since married. However, since they got married I haven't seen hide nor hair of either of them. A real shame. They were great friends of mine, fellow mods, and fellow clan leaders (along with me) of my old clan.

You see!!! Runescape dating is bad, people!!! Bad!!!

Sorry Nathan. I'm breaking up with you. Sad

Turner Nic's 2 Cents

If you like somebody then you like somebody, there isn't much that you can do about it and you would have to be a fool to ignore it. There may not be a physical connection but there can still be a emotional one, but i think.. in this situation it has been taken to far. When you start spending every moment on this game with them, you look exactly like them, some people even get their stats to the same level and the same exp so that they can be next to each other on the highscores. That is when it has been taken to far. This sort of behavior is what we like to call being "whipped". Nobody finds it attractive when you are whipped.. your gf or bf might maybe find it sweet that u want to do everything with them.. or they might find it annoying, but to everybody else around the both of you, it looks pathetic. Friends begin to feel ignored and forgotten because people spend too much time together and never want to do anything with you, but i suppose this is common in any relationship sometimes, not just specificly related to runescape.

The important thing is balance. I think you are always winning when she is complaining because she wants to spend more time with you, obviously this means you may need to sacrifice your own happiness and spend less time with them but it could be beneficial in the long run. "The person in control of a relationship is the person who cares the least" or something along those lines - Ghosts of Girlfriends Past

I kinda share the same view as Danny tho, if it doesn't involve you then why do you care. its not really anybody's place to step in and say that it is weird unless you are their close friend and even then, how does that differ from reality? People have private lives and i think it is best to stay out of them generally.

I stand on the same fence as Danny and Nic in some respect. I have no problem with it, but I tend to look down on it. I dig the whole lookalike thing, did it with some of my friends back in the day, but to date through another medium like the internet, where anything is corruptable, it just seems a tad foolish.

I wont badmouth them for it, cause its they're choice, but after seeing so much elove through facebook, lovey dovey talk via game just annoys me. And Ive also heard of ppl getting married via the game, which is another irritation. To me, marriage is bigger than some game, and to play at it with someone in the game, whom you might not truely know, is a tad condescending.

If it helps I didn't know we were exclusive and I've been with everyone in the clan aside from you anyways. But I still had you in the top 5, so I'm a little bit sad.

Runescape dating: My opinion? do what you want. Why should you let others set the norms of society when half the time others decisions are the wrong ones? Don't let others set your life for you because if you do then what is the point in having free will?

I'm a fan of extending friendships outside of games, done it myself with a few good people. Flirting and having in game gf's isn't my thing, but I don't see the harm in it. I do however, see harm in taking it seriously and trying to meet up as a couple outside the game. By all means go meet and be friends, but let rl circumstances dictate the path any further.

I think Danny got the same opinion as me.
And I may add that my ex-girlfriend who was playing with me, found a man in RS and they met IRL like a few months later. Now they're dating for like 2 years.

Like, some people can find love, but don't scream that it is bad or anything, if it's not your thing.
