If this update comes out how they say, it will be one of the best updates this year, behind reintroduction of free trade and wilderness. A lot of this stuff is wayyyyy overdue.

clan only option for public chat would be nice....just sayin'

I add everyone in the clan, so I can see what they say since I'm always public at friends. Would be better to do a friends/clan option IMO.

I agree, playing rs has always been about clans, jagex was way over due with it bc they never wanted to deal with pages not affiliated with jagex. When they finally decided to branch out is when a whole other opritunity came out for them to get more well known with it's fan sites and such.

Before you read this post, no I am not complaining about the update. I've been waiting for tis update a while. I'm just pointing out some possible negative effects.

My only personal worry with this update is that 'clans' will become common, that clans like Surreal will fade into the background because it'll be so easy to setup a clan that there will be x2 as more as there is now. :O two ibis just flew past my house. I think this will also apply to a lot of other respected, veteran clans who will just fade into the background because there will be this clan frenzy. It may kill off those clans. I also remember reading somewhere they were going to setup their own warring ladder. But why do that when there is one already in place supported by Jagex, the ladder could do with help from Jagex rather than them making their own.

Another worry of mine, this is a personal opinion I've had for a while. Jagex are trying to 'control' and 'monitor' the clan world more. I feel over the past few years they have tried to be more controlling and I'm just worried us clans will be sitting in Jagex's hands rather than being independant. I doubt this problem will apply to Surreal as we are not-posted anyway on the RS site.

To conclude, this update can either have a good effect on the clan world or a negative one. Lets just hope it doesn't diminish the meaning of a clan and it will make Surreal stronger.
